We follow a very similar framework to many other well-known networking groups, with some notable differences: we charge a $100 yearly membership fee, we do not encourage forced referrals; and all of our members are the owners or directors of their own businesses

These meetings follow a structured framework. When we first arrive, we like to catch up, mingle and enjoy our delicious breakfast (which is served to us at the table), before getting into the networking mode. Once we’re all settled in and comfortable, we start off with the president of the group welcoming us, and introducing any guests that may have joined us for the morning. Once that is taken care of, we get into the 60-second talks. This is what we call the ‘member’s minute’ – it’s an opportunity for each member to stand up and promote their business, discuss a new service, mention a great new product they’re offering, introduce a current client to the group, and talk about what kind of referrals they’d like. We encourage members to think of the group as their dedicated sales team – talk about your products as though your target market were seated all around you.

There is a break after the member’s minute business updates, which members use to mingle, recharge their coffees or teas, and chat to new members or catch up with friends. Back at the table after the break, each member is asked in turn if they have any boosts or referrals to share. A ‘boost’ is where a member shares a positive experience with another member’s business services or products, where a referral is a solid lead for new business for a member. Boosts and referrals are written on notices which are collected and passed on to the president at the conclusion of this part of the meeting.
